A few “gifts” for you the reader if you desire to grow deeper in your own spiritual journey, and learning how to live into the “with-God” life more. These are a few of the timeless spiritual practices and resources that have become a lifeline for me along the way. These practices have been woven into the story on the pages of “The Gift Of With.” Some are included here for gifts to be opened by you. Your friendship with Jesus requires time, patience, and practice, just like any personal relationship, and that is The Gift! It is so worth it, and where the treasure of Him can be found. Not in the practice itself, but the practice is a window to open your heart to encounter Him.

Find a mentor, someone who you know walks with God, and learn from them. It may be an author, podcaster, preacher, parent, or friend. Our godparent is one of our mentors and has amazing resources here to explore. Keep learning about who Jesus is, and His character. He is who will save you, redeem you, and rescue you.
The Gift of Surrender
Daily practice a posture of surrender to God, praying or worshiping with palms up helps our souls catch up to our bodies, we are mind, body, spirit. Surrendering to God, everyone and everything, is a practice of “Benevolent Detachment” (Wild at Heart, John Eldredge) that helps me learn how to care, but not carry, the burdens of my heart. The Pause app has guided prayers to help get you started and keep you going in this.
Lectio 365 is a morning and evening guided prayer that is new and inspiring every day. The evening prayer is a wonderful way to put your mind and soul to sleep at night!
The Gift of Community
Go to church. Find a church with your people, show up, serve, and stay when it gets hard. It is like family, it will have ups and downs, and things you connect with, and like, and don’t like. Be a helpful participant and not a consumer. Be in a small group, where you are really known. Join one or start one, and stay committed in the mess. You are so welcome to join our thriving church, or jump into one in your own community.
Home | Bayside ChurchThe Psalms are songs and prayers that are a wonderful place to connect with God, by reading, reflecting, and making them into your own prayers. Bono and Eugene Peterson talk about the gift of the Psalms here. Connect with God, by reading, reflecting, and making them into your own prayers.
The Gift of BeautyGet outside, exchange coffee dates for going for a walk dates, plus it only costs you time not money. Scott and I have been taking after dinner walks since our first year of marriage and it is one of our best marriage tips. Walking and talking are a form of therapy and help our minds file and process things. Jesus walked and talked with his people all through His life, and He still will walk with us now. He usually goes at 3mph-Godspeed. Slowing down to find the beauty!
